Importing from Cloud Storage

Use cloud storage providers to import files and folders into your Case Files.

You can import documents, transcripts, and exhibits from your preferred cloud storage service using the Apple Files app. This allows you to organize and access your materials across the LIT SUITE apps.

To access a cloud storage provider from the Files app, you just need to have that provider’s app downloaded on your iPad or accessible through Finder on your Mac. Once installed and signed in, your storage service will appear as a location in the Files interface.

Importing Files from Cloud Storage

You can import individual files from supported providers such as iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, Citrix Files, Microsoft OneDrive, and others that appear in the Apple Files app. The steps are the same as importing from any other source, so please refer to the applicable article for each app. The following steps are to summarize the process.

How to Import Files from Cloud Storage:

  1. Open the LIT SUITE app and select a Case File.

  2. Tap Import Documents (or Import Transcripts, depending on the app).

  3. In the Files interface, tap Browse to choose your cloud storage location.

  4. Navigate to the file you want to import.

  5. Tap the file to begin the import.

Once imported, the file will appear in the appropriate tab of your Case File (for example, Documents, Exhibits, or Transcripts).

Importing Folders from Cloud Storage

Some third-party cloud storage providers may not allow folders to be imported directly into the LIT SUITE apps. You can work around this by compressing the folder into a single ZIP file and importing it as one document.

How to Import a Folder from a Third-Party Cloud Provider

If you can’t import a folder directly, compress it into a ZIP file first.

  1. Open the Files app on your iPad.

  2. Tap the third-party cloud storage provider and navigate to the folder you want to import.

  3. Tap and hold on the folder, then choose Compress from the popover.

  4. A ZIP file of the folder is created in the same location.

  5. In TrialPad or DocReviewPad, tap Import Documents, and select the ZIP file to import.

When imported, the LIT SUITE app automatically uncompresses the file and reconstructs your original file and folder structure inside the case file.

If a file or folder is unavailable for selection, please see Grayed-Out Files when Importing, in our Help Center.

Note About Google Drive

If you’re having trouble accessing files in Google Drive, make sure Privacy Screen is turned off.

  • Open the Google Drive app.

  • Tap Menu (☰) > Settings > Privacy Screen.

  • Turn the switch Off to allow access and downloads.

This feature requires authentication each time you open Google Drive. Turning it off ensures your files are accessible when importing into LIT SUITE apps.

Additional Tips

  • Make sure the cloud app (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) is downloaded on your iPad or available through Finder on your Mac before trying to import.

  • For the best experience, files must be stored locally before importing. Select for a folder or file to be available offline or download them first.

  • Avoid importing directly from shared or read-only folders, as changes may not save properly.

  • If importing a large folder, make sure your device has enough available storage space.
