Export Settings in DocReviewPad

Choose what to export, what to include, how files are named, and where they go when you share documents from DocReviewPad.

Where to Start

How you begin an export depends on what you’re sending and where it’s going.

To share one document, a video, selected files, or a folder to Files, Mail, or another app, start by reviewing: Exporting and Sharing Documents..

To export your entire Case File, or only documents with specific Issue Codes or annotations, start by reviewing: Exporting Document Sets.

To send reviewed documents to TrialPad to organize, sticker, and present, start by reviewing: DocReviewPad Export to TrialPad.

Once you’ve chosen what to export, use the settings below to finish your export.

Export Settings

Export Settings are organized into six categories, so you share only what you need.

Choose Documents or Pages

Choose to export entire Documents or individual Pages.

  • Documents will export the entire documents that were selected for Export.
  • Pages will export individual pages form the documents that were selected for Export.

Select What to Export

Keep Export All on to include everything in your selection. Turn it off to export only documents with annotations, Notes, or specific Issue Codes. For example, select a single Issue Code to export just that set.

To export only the pages that match, choose Pages as your Export Type.

Select What to Exclude

Items tagged Confidential or Privileged are left out of the export by default. Turn off either switch to include them.

Choose What to Include with Export

All switches are on by default, and each annotation type has its own switch, so you can include redactions without highlights or pen marks. Turn switches off for a clean production set to opposing counsel, or leave them on for internal and trial preparation.

  • Highlight, Pen, Redaction, or Markups: show or hide each annotation type.
  • Notes: export as separate pages when saving to Files, or in the Summary Report only when exporting to TrialPad.
  • Bates Numbers: stamp Bates numbers on exported pages.
  • Summary Report: add a report listing every exported item.

Choose the Naming Convention

Choose how exported files are named:

  • File Names: the original file name, such as Document Name.pdf
  • Bates Numbers: the Bates range, such as ACME-000001 - 000012.pdf
  • Both: the file name followed by the Bates range

A document with a Ghost Bates number uses that number in its file name, but the number is never stamped on the page.

Choose the Destination for Export.

Choose where your export goes:

  • TrialPad: documents import into a labeled folder in the Documents tab, and pages assigned Issue Codes appear in matching Key Docs folders.
  • A folder in Files, such as On My iPad, iCloud Drive, or a USB drive, or Desktop or Documents on Mac.

Videos export as the original MP4 or MOV file and appear in the Summary Report with their Bates number.

If you choose TrialPad, review DocReviewPad Export to TrialPad in our Help Center for more information.
