Use the Index to Navigate a Transcript

View every word in a transcript, see how often it appears, and jump directly to each occurrence by page and line.

The Index in TranscriptPad gives you a fast, structured way to explore the language used in a transcript and move directly to the exact lines that matter.

What the Index Shows

When you open the Index for a transcript, TranscriptPad automatically generates a complete alphabetical list of every word in that transcript.

For each word, the Index displays:

  • A total count showing how many times the word appears.

  • Expandable results that list every occurrence by page and line.

  • A text preview showing the surrounding transcript content for each occurrence.

This makes it easy to understand context without manually scrolling through pages.

How to Open the Index in a Transcript

  1. Open a transcript.

  2. Tap the Index button.

  3. Browse or search the word list to find a term.

The Index opens in a sidebar, so you can view results alongside the transcript text.

How to Jump to a Word in the Transcript

Once you find a word in the Index:

  1. Tap the word to expand its results.

  2. Review the list of page and line references with text previews.

  3. Tap any page and line entry to jump directly to that location in the transcript.

TranscriptPad immediately takes you to the selected line, keeping your place and saving time during review.

Why Use the Index

The Index is especially helpful when you need to:

  • Track how often a specific term is used.

  • Quickly locate testimony on a recurring topic.

  • Move through long transcripts with precision and confidence.

By combining word counts, context, and direct navigation, the Index helps you work more efficiently with every transcript.
