      Supported File Types in ExhibitsPad

      Use compatible file formats to ensure exhibits display correctly and consistently during trial presentations.

      ExhibitsPad supports a variety of document, image, video, and audio formats commonly used in litigation. For best results, use PDF for all documents and photographs.

      Document and Text Files

      Remove any password protection before importing, as password-protected files cannot be viewed in TrialPad.

      ✔️Portable Document Format (.PDF) - Recommended

      ✔️Tagged Image File Format (.TIF, .TIFF) 

      ✔️Text File (.TXT) - Formatting is not retained. If a transcript is imported into ExhibitsPad, formatting is not retained, but page and line numbering will match the court reporter’s official transcript.

      Image Files

      ✔️Joint Photographic Experts Group (.JPG, .JPEG)

      ✔️Portable Network Graphics (.PNG)

      ✔️Graphics Interchange Format (.GIF)

      ✔️High Efficiency Image File Format (.HEIC)

      Video and Audio Formats

      Video Files

      These are the standard formats for video playback in ExhibitsPad.

      ✔️ QuickTime (.MOV)

      ✔️ MPEG-4 (.MP4)

      ✔️ M4V (.M4V)

      Audio Files

      These are the standard formats for audio playback in ExhibitsPad.

      ✔️ Waveform Audio (.WAV)

      ✔️ MPEG Layer-3 (.MP3)

      ✔️ M4A (.M4A)

      ✔️ Audio Interchange File Format (.AIF, .AIFF)

      ✔️ Core Audio Format (.CAF)

      Unsupported File Types

      ExhibitsPad doesn’t support file formats that are encrypted, proprietary, or not intended for litigation review or presentation.

      LIT SUITE apps don’t support file formats that are encrypted, proprietary, or not intended for litigation review or presentation.

      Most word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation files must be converted to PDF before importing into any LIT SUITE app.

      Avoid using the following file types:

      Microsoft Office

      • Microsoft Word (.DOC, .DOCX)

      • Microsoft Excel (.XLS, .XLSX)*

      • Microsoft PowerPoint (.PPT, .PPTX)

      iWork Files

      • Pages (.pages)

      • Numbers (.numbers)

      • Keynote (.keynote)

      Google Workspace

      • Docs (.gdocs)

      • Sheets (.gsheets)

      • Slides (.gslides)

      Other File Formats

      • Rich Text Format (.RTF) - Convert to plain text (.TXT) or PDF.

      • Email Files (.MSG, .EML) -  Export emails as PDFs before importing.

      • Password-Protected PDFs or Encrypted Files — Remove protection to ensure visibility.
