Sharing a Case File Across Devices

Use iCloud Drive to access your Case File from multiple devices without risking data loss.

There’s no automatic way to sync a Case File between multiple devices or users. However, you can store your Case File in iCloud Drive so that it’s accessible from another iPad or Mac when needed.

How to Safely Use a Case File Between Devices

  1. Store the Case File in iCloud Drive.

Save your Case File to iCloud Drive rather than “On My iPad.” This makes it available on any device signed in with the same Apple Account.

  2. Open the Case File on one device at a time.

Always make sure the Case File is fully downloaded before opening it. Opening the same file on two devices at once can cause data loss or corruption.

  3. Allow time for syncing.

Before switching devices, close the Case File on the first device and wait a few moments for iCloud to finish syncing the latest changes. Then open it on the second device.

Sharing a Case File with Other Users

If you’d like another person to access your Case File, you can share the folder that contains it through iCloud Drive.

How to Share a Case File with Another User

  1. Open the Files app on your iPad or Mac.

  2. Locate your Case File in iCloud Drive.

  3. Touch and hold (or right-click) the Case File’s folder, then choose Share > Add People.

  4. Choose how to send the invitation (Messages, Mail, etc.) and who can access it.

  5. The invited user can then open the Case File from their own iCloud Drive.

Important: Only one person should edit the Case File at a time. If multiple users open or edit the file simultaneously, iCloud may create conflicting versions or overwrite changes.
