TrialPad allows you to present evidence using a wireless connection (using an Apple TV) or a wired connection (using an HDMI cable). It is also possible to use a VGA cable but this is not recommended as VGA is older technology and the cable does not carry the audio.
With a wireless connection, the iPad or Mac wirelessly transmits the presentation to an Apple TV, which is connected to a TV or projector using an HDMI cable. The iPad, Mac, and Apple TV need to have WiFi and Bluetooth enabled to communicate with each other using Peer-to-Peer AirPlay (they do not need to be connected to a WiFi network or the internet). For the best performance use the Apple TV 4K or later model, and have it less than 100 feet away from the iPad or Mac.
With a wired connection, the iPad or Mac is connected to a TV or projector using an HDMI cable. For an iPad or Mac with a USB-C output you will need the USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter to connect the HDMI cable. Note: An HDMI cable should not be longer than 50 feet as it can result in signal degradation. It is also possible to use a VGA cable but this is not recommended as VGA is older technology and the cable does not carry the audio. See the matrix at the end of this support article for the various adapters required for different setups. Make sure to only use genuine Apple adapters bought directly from Apple as some third-party adapters will not work.
