Access iCloud Drive Files Offline

Keep your files downloaded from iCloud Drive to ensure they’re always ready for use in your LIT SUITE apps.

When downloading a folder from iCloud Drive, some files may not appear because iCloud automatically offloads unused items to free up space. These offloaded files display a cloud icon with a down arrow next to their names.

Make Files Available for Importing

Files that remain in the cloud can’t be imported into a Case File. Before importing, make sure all files are stored locally on your device. You can do this in two ways:

  • Move files to your device so they stay available even when offline.

  • Download files to your device if they show the cloud-and-arrow icon.

The sections below explain how to do each on iPad and Mac.

Move Files to Your Device

Move files so they’re stored locally and always available, even when offline.

On iPad:

  1. Open the Files app.

  2. Locate the files or folder you want to move.

  3. Tap and hold the item, then choose Move.

  4. Select On My iPad as the destination.

On Mac:

  1. Open System Settings.

  2. Go to Apple ID > iCloud > iCloud Drive.

  3. Turn off Desktop & Documents Folders.

This keeps your files stored locally rather than in iCloud.

Download Files or Folders to Your Device

If you see the cloud icon with a down arrow, manually download those items.

On iPad:

  1. Open the Files app.

  2. Tap and hold on the file or folder with the cloud icon.

  3. Tap Download Now.

On Mac:

  1. Open Finder.

  2. Right-click the file or folder with the cloud icon.

  3. Choose Download Now.
