If you get a popup message saying, “Save Error - An attempt to save the document failed” it could be for a number of reasons, for example:
- When a Case File is stored in an unsupported cloud storage location such as Dropbox. Even temporarily transferring a Case File to an unsupported cloud storage provider may result in a corrupted Case File that will not save correctly.
- When the Case File is saved to a location that is slow, e.g. a USB drive that is not APFS formatted, or a network share.
- When the location the Case File was opened from is no longer accessible, e.g. an unplugged USB drive, or a disconnected network share.
- If you do not have write permissions to the file or folder. This would start happening very soon after opening the Case File and persist, whereas the previous issues may be more intermittent.
Case Files should always be created and stored in the On My iPad or iCloud Drive locations. Please follow the directions in this important support article: https://support.litsoftware.com/where-should-i-store-my-case-files
