Supported File Types in DocReviewPad

Use compatible file formats to ensure documents and exhibits display correctly and maintain quality during review and production.

DocReviewPad is designed for organizing, reviewing, and coding documents for discovery and trial preparation. For best results, use Adobe Acrobat PDF for all documents and photographs, and consider splitting large PDFs into smaller, logical sets before importing.

Document and Text Formats

✔️ Adobe Acrobat (.PDF) - PDF is the standard format for document production. It preserves the layout, text, and graphics of your original files, making it ideal for review and Bates stamping in DocReviewPad.

Password-protected PDFs must have the password removed before importing, as encrypted files cannot be opened in DocReviewPad.

For more information on dealing with PDFs, especially large PDF files, please review Best Practice Recommendations for DocReviewPad in our Help Center.

✔️ Text File (.TXT) - Lightweight files typically used for deposition and trial transcripts in TranscriptPad.

If a TXT file is imported into DocReviewPad, the page formatting will be lost, but the page and line numbering will match the official transcript.

Image Formats

✔️ Tagged Image File Format (.TIF, .TIFF) - An older bitmap image format still widely used for document production. DocReviewPad supports both single-page and multi-page TIFF files.

✔️ Joint Photographic Experts Group (.JPG, .JPEG) - A standard bitmap image format commonly used for photographs and image-based exhibits.

✔️ Portable Network Graphics (.PNG) - Another bitmap image format suitable for photographs, screenshots, or graphics.

Compressed Files

✔️ Compressed or Zipped File (.ZIP) - ZIP files can contain multiple files and folders. When imported into DocReviewPad, the folder structure is preserved, making it an efficient way to transfer large document sets.

Unsupported File Types

DocReviewPad does not support Word documents, videos, or audio files. If your file type isn’t listed above, convert it to a compatible format before importing.
