Importing Transcripts

Learn how to import TXT transcripts into TranscriptPad and prepare them for syncing with audio or video files.

TranscriptPad begins with a transcript. To use all of TranscriptPad’s features, transcripts must be in TXT format (ASCII). PDFs can be imported but will only be added as Exhibits.

Tips with Importing Transcripts:

Import all transcripts from a matter, including hearing and daily trial transcripts, for a fully searchable record.

Always use the final version of a transcript when creating designations; drafts or rough transcripts may have page or line changes.

How to Import Transcripts in to TranscriptPad:

  1. Tap the + button and choose Import Files.
  2. Navigate to the location of your TXT transcript files.
  3. Select the files to import, then tap Open.

If you import PDFs, they will not support full TranscriptPad features. Request a TXT version from the court reporter or use DocReviewPad for annotations.

Working With Audio and Video

Once your TXT transcript is imported, you can import audio or video files and sync them to the transcript. This allows you to:

  • Play back recordings alongside the transcript.

  • Create clips for presentations, mediation, or review.

  • Use closed captions for video depositions, 911 calls, surveillance recordings, or EUO statements.
